Reminders to the Congregation

Event Planning
This is a friendly reminder to keep your group’s ministry well-promoted as we are within weeks of the kick-off of fall programs. You may also need to contact particular staff members to assist you with planning your events, from getting it on the calendar to setting up tables and everything in between. Keep this for your records and please share this info with your committees when you meet to cover all of your bases this coming year!
To promote activities and events to the congregation:
  • Email (communications@fpcgastonia.org) to have information placed in the newsletter and on the scroll on the television screens (the next newsletter deadline is August 29).
  • Email (smoore@fpcgastonia.org) to have your information listed in the weekly e-blast and in the bulletin. For inclusion in the bulletin and weekly e-blast, information must be received each Wednesday by 12:00 noon.
  • For inclusion on the church website, please be in touch with Calvin Craig, our webmaster. His email is (Craig.Calvin@gaston.edu).
  • Talk it up among your committee members and ministry groups - word of mouth is a great avenue for sharing what’s happening!
  • Work with your ministry’s staff liaison to come up with other ways to share the good news of the ministry you oversee - be creative!

When you are planning an event, here are some steps your committee needs to be sure to cover:
  1. Is your event on the calendar? To see about available dates and rooms in the church, please be in touch with Donna Kerns (dkerns@fpcgastonia.org) to get your date and the location of your event locked in. Your date is NOT guaranteed unless Donna confirms with your committee/group that it is on the master calendar. Donna also assists with church van reservations.
  2. Do you need to access the Fellowship Hall Kitchen and/or catering services? Please be in touch with Sherry Moore (smoore@fpcgastonia.org), kitchen liaison, at least two weeks in advance of your event if you need access to the FH kitchen. The church has a preferred caterer who is familiar with our kitchen space, who can be lined up for your events, but more advance notice is needed.
  3. For room set up, A/V set up, and facility issues, please be in touch with Rodney Owens (maintenance@fpcgastonia.org) at least one week in advance.
For all of your events, the sooner you are in touch with one of the aforementioned staff persons, the more smoothly your event will run. There’s a lot of great stuff happening this time of year and we want folks to know about it! To help make your programs and events the best they can be, touch base with staff who oversee your committee’s particular areas of need.

Thank you all for doing your part to share the good news of Jesus Christ as you share in the ministry of FPC, where Faith is Alive!
